To apply to enrol your child in a CEO Sydney school, contact the school Principal or the school’s Enrolment Secretary who will advise you of the procedures. The school will provide you with an Enrolment Pack which will contain all the information you will need, including the application forms.
While you can apply to enrol your child in a Sydney Catholic school at any time of the year (pending places being available), there is a formal enrolment period which runs from around April to the end of May each year. There is strong demand for places in many Catholic schools so it is important to make your application before the advertised closing dates. Catholic Schools Week, which is a state-wide celebration of Catholic education, also takes place during the ’formal’ enrolment period.
Documents
Parents are interviewed by the Principal before the enrolment is finalised. The documents you will need to provide at the interview include your child’s Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate and immunisation records. A passport, with documents validating your child's current Visa status, will also be needed if you do not hold Australian citizenship. Secondary schools may also require primary school reports and a reference from the Parish Priest. The school will advise of any other relevant requirements.
Most schools have an Orientation Program in Term 4 of the year prior to commencement at the school. This program provides important information to students and parents on what is expected and required at the school and also helps students to settle more quickly when they start at the school.
For more information, or to make an application for enrolment, contact your parish primary school or local secondary college.
Fees
The sources of funds for Catholic systemic schools are government grants, school fees and other private income such as subject levies, parish grants and fund-raising by Parents & Friends Associations.
Annual tuition fees for 2012 for children attending Catholic systemic schools are as follows:
| Primary K-6 |
$908 |
$681 |
$454 |
| Secondary: 7-8 |
$1,273 |
$954.75 |
$636.50 |
| Secondary: 9-10 |
$1,411 |
$1,058.25 |
$705.50 |
Families with two or three children attending Archdiocesan systemic Catholic schools are eligible for the second and third child discounts as shown in the table. Families with four or more children attending these schools will not be charged tuition fees for their fourth child and for subsequent children.
The tuition fee includes Student Accident Insurance cover through Catholic Church Insurances Limited. This 24-hour cover is for school activities only (ie during school hours and other approved school activities such as school camps, school sports, work experience and traveling to and from school). This policy provides payments in the event of particular injuries to help offset some medical costs.
Please note that because CCI is not a registered Health Fund, it is not permitted to cover any gap between Medicare funding and actual medical costs. Parents should be made aware of this at the commencement of the school year.
The financing of capital works and repairs and maintenance of school facilities and the need to provide for annual debt-servicing requirements, have necessitated the establishment of a building levy for all systemic schools. In 2012, the annual levy will be at least $336 per family.
Families with children attending more than one participating school will be billed proportionately by the respective schools. Parents should enquire about discounts at the relevant schools.
Families who have a genuine inability to pay tuition fees or other charges are invited to speak with the school Principal.
Our mission is that no Catholic child will be denied a Catholic education through a genuine inability to pay tuition fees or other charges.
