Each year the SACS Board members dedicate a full day to visiting primary and secondary schools in each of the three Archdiocesan regions. This year (Wednesday 13 June) the SACS Board members gathered at Lidcombe in the Inner West Region. The theme of this year's visit to the Inner West was "E-learning and new technologies". The aim was to showcase the new generation of teaching and learning technologies being used in the classrooms.
Following a visit to St Joachim's Primary School, Lidcombe where Year Six students demonstrated their current web research on "Church Saints", the Board members enjoyed three lively presentations on podcasting skills, Smartboard applications and Leggo Robotics. These were provided by students from Our Lady Queen of Peace, Gladesville; St Therese's Mascot; and Marist Sister's College, Woolwich.
The photograph above captures some of the Year One students from St Therese's Mascot with their teacher Ms Lisa McCallum showing some of the SACS Board members the different ways they currently use smartboards in their daily teaching and learning.
