Teaching in a Catholic school is one of the vocations highlighted at the Vocations Expo at Darling Harbour.
Dianne Waddington, who with Cathy Rizzo is running the stall representing Sydney Catholic schools. emphasised that teaching is a calling, not just a career.
"The desire to teach has to come from the heart," she said.
Most of those visiting the stall are interested in teaching in Catholic schools, and want to know how to get classified, or how to obtain accreditation to teach Religious Education.
"Some are in university and about to finish their course, so they are looking for information in advance," said Dianne. "Some are still at school."
"We've also had a lot of teachers from overseas who have been coming in and talking about the differences and similarities between teaching in Catholic schools in their own countries and in Australia.
"Many are surprised to learn that 20% of Australian students attend Catholic schools."
The Expo, which continues throughout the week, is free and open to all.
