External Review
Following a 1994 Review of its operations, the Catholic Education Office (CEO), Sydney launched its Strategic Management Plan 'Towards 2005' in August 1995. An outcome of the Review was that a further examination of the organisation would take place after ten years.
During July 2004 the CEO, Sydney underwent an External Review by a panel of distinguished educators. The focus of the Review was on the appropriateness and quality of the services provided to the system of schools by the CEO, and their effectiveness in improving standards of education and care. The Report of the Review Panel was the result of a rigorous examination of the operations of the CEO, Sydney and the Sydney Archdiocesan Catholic Schools (SACS) Board. The recommendations form the foundations of the next Strategic Management Plan which will take effect from 2006.
Bulletin 76, published in December 2004, outlined the CEO's response to the Report. Further extensive consultation throughout the organisation has resulted in two draft documents, the Self Review and Improvement Framework for use by schools, and the Emerging Strategic Management Plan : 'Towards 2010', scheduled for launch in October 2005.
The future opportunities for students in Catholic schools in Sydney are exciting.
