National Assessment Program: Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

A National Website has been established  www.naplan.edu.au for the 2008 Naplan testing which contains information and student preparation materials. It is important to download preparation materials and information from this site.


In 2008, all students in the Literacy Writing task will write in a narrative genre. It is important to use the BOS syllabus documents to unpack the elements of this genre: Social purpose, Structure, and grammar.

Shortly, you will receive the School Manual of Administrative Procedures. It is essential that this document is read, and particular note taken of preparing students for the tests (page 8 and page 9). Familiarisation materials are available on www.naplan.edu.au

It is imperative that Principals ensure that the National testing for Numeracy and Literacy is well organised, runs smoothly, and is administered according to National expectations and guidelines.

Is a 'catch up' day for students who have missed one or more of the assessment tests. Students can also catch up missed tests in the afternoons on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 May


Administration Important Dates

Thursday 20 March

Fax back the NAPLAN 2008 Request for Large Print, Braille and black and white versions of test materials form (page 32) with name and Year of student and print size requirements

Friday 28 March The Principal must inform parents about the tests before this date.

Friday 2 May

Packages should have arrived in schools

Friday 2 May

Large print, black and white and Braille materials will arrive separately but should also be delivered by this date.

Friday 2 May

Notify Kate O'Brien or Tim McMullen if test material has not been received

Monday 19 May

TEST MATERIALS MUST NOT,UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BE DISPATCHED BY A SCHOOL OR CENTRE TO STUDENTS' HOMES UNTIL after this date

Friday 23 May

Return the package(s) by Australia Post no later than this date, preferably as soon as the tests are completed.

Friday 22 August

Check with your local post office if you have not received the school report packages .

Friday 22 August

 

Reports for Parents will be sent to the school along with a letter to the Principal containing confidential information for downloading SMART NAPLAN

Monday 1 September

Distribute the Report for Parents as soon as possible after receipt and no later than

 

A reminder that the semester 2 school report must contain a reference to the Naplan results.
