The Catholic Schools Performing Arts (CaSPA) Program was created after the success of the Jubilee celebrations at the Sydney Olympic site in 2000. It was driven in part by a desire to maintain the expertise generated by such events and also to better develop the performing arts for the benefit of all children, schools and the system.
A three year cycle was adopted with the first year emphasizing teacher and school support, the second year Regional concerts and the culmination in the third year being a major public performance. World Youth Day 2008 was definitely a major public performance for the students involved in CaSPA and therefore 2009 will see the program move towards more of an in-school focus.
Overall, CaSPA is a two-tiered program that offers a comprehensive range of Professional Development courses to both teachers and students in primary and secondary schools in the disciplines of Music, Dance and Drama.
With the partnership of Great Big Events, an industry recognised company, CaSPA is committed to providing quality instruction and 'value-adding' through professional expertise in the Performing Arts.
