Professional Learning

Teachers of Religious Education share in the evangelising mission of the Church. Like all education, Religious Education requires committed teachers. It also requires them to have knowledge of Scripture and the Church, and an understanding of the Church's teachings, traditions and practices.

The Catholic Education Office commends the work of teachers in this area. It encourages them to engage in enhancing and expanding their knowledge and skills, and to look for opportunities to gain insights into their own spiritual and faith journey.

The Catholic Education office is committed to, and seeks to assist teachers in the growth of their professional learning. To this end services are provided through:

Professional development in-service courses
The Certificate of Religious Education (NSW) course
Reimbursement of post graduate study in Religious Education and Theology Study
Information on visiting speakers, upcoming events, and study opportunities
Religious Education Co-ordinators in schools
Religious Education Advisers in the regional offices
Spirituality Team, and
Provision of the religious Education curriculum
