Assessment in RE

There is increasing interest in Catholic school communities in the assessment of student learning, both in Religious Education and in the wider curriculum.

In 1990 the Sydney Archdiocesan Catholic Schools (SACS) Board published 'Assessment and Reporting in Catholic Schools'.  This document presented a number of basic principles about assessment as an intrinsic part of teaching and learning, and emphasised that assessment should encourage and advance learning.

Religious Education uses the best of current thinking and practice in curriculum development and organisation, and hence in assessment and reporting.
