The position, Religious Education Co-ordinator, was introduced formally in the Archdiocese of Sydney by the Catholic Education Office in the early 1970s. In the ensuing years the Catholic Education Office has published a number of documents to clarify the role expectations of Religious Education Co-ordinators and to support them in their ministry.
