Certificate of RE (NSW)

The Certificate of Religious Education (NSW) has been written as an introductory course for teachers.

In the Sydney Archdiocese, this eight-unit course can be studied by correspondence, in tutor-based groups and online (all units will be online by the end of 2008).  Teachers are encouraged to select the means of study which will be personally most beneficial.

The course is an initiative sponsored by the Conference of NSW Directors of Catholic Education. It is offered especially for teachers who have not completed a formal post secondary course in Religious Education.

It is recognised by the Australian Catholic University as replacing the bridging courses required for admission to the Graduate studies in Religious Education.

Please note: 

ONLINE study is available at present for all Units except Unit 4 (to be published soon). 

At present, payment per unit for students in NSW is $50 and $70 for interstate students.  As from 1/1/09 payment will be $100 per unit (for both NSW and interstate students).

Enrolments from Other NSW Dioceses 

We have been informed that we are unable to accept any enrolments from the Lismore Diocese for the Certificate of RE (NSW) course. For further information regarding this, please contact Mrs Kris Rowlands - 02 6622 0422.

If you belong to the Maitland-Newcastle or Wagga Wagga Dioceses, you are asked to check with your Diocesan office PRIOR to enrolling in the Certificate RE (NSW).
