Ordinary Time

Ordinary Time comprises the thirty-three or thirty-four weeks of the liturgical year which follow the major seasons of Christmas and Easter. There are two periods of Ordinary Time: one which extends from the end of the Christmas Season to the beginning of Lent and a longer one which extends from the end of the Easter season to the beginning of Advent. During Ordinary Time the Gospel accounts focus on the ministry and teaching of Jesus. This gives us an opportunity to reflect upon how we live these teachings in our own lives. Ordinary time reminds us that God is always with us, yes even in the little moments of our lives. Ordinary Time is a time for growing into the life of God. Like the other liturgical seasons, Ordinary Time has a colour associated with it. In this case it is green, which we can see in the world around us, especially in nature.
